About Paper Gun Press Publishing

Steve Fain is an artist and lifelong advocate of the DIY ethos. Best known for his black-and-white artwork, his work is rooted in independent publishing, handmade craftsmanship, and a belief that art should be accessible rather than exclusive.

A self-described "old punk," Steve's anti-commercial outlook extends far beyond his artwork. It is a philosophy of self-reliance and community that shapes everything he does. Whether creating zines, sketching, or publishing independent authors, he approaches every project with determination, curiousity, and a commitment to doing things his way.

Steve likes to joke that Paper Gun Press was born simply because he wanted a logo to put on the things he made. The truth is more ambitious. Believing that traditional publishing places too much emphasis on social media presence and marketablility, he created Paper Gun Press as a collaborative home for independent creators — a place where overlooked voices can find an audience and meaningful stories can be told.

Above all else, Steve is a devoted father, a storyteller and a collaborator. Every piece of art reflects the same values that define his life: honesty, craftsmanship, and the enduring belief that the most meaningful things are built by hand.
